ASHLEY TORRES (Ashley Martyn) specializes is guiding owner-training Service Dog teams along their training journey. Ashley is an AKC evaluator and able to administer the AKC Canine Good Citizen tests. She has spent her life immersed in the dog training world. Under the direction of her father, Glenn Martyn; who has been training dogs professionally since 1965; Ashley began training dogs at a very young age. Ashley spent many years of her youth volunteering at the SF SPCA’s Hearing Dog Program. She assisted in the evaluation of potential service dogs, socialization, obedience training, and service dog task training.
Ashley has her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO) with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She is always learning all she can about canine behavior. As such, she also obtained her Master’s Degree in Human-Canine Life Sciences from Bergin University of Canine Studies.
Ashley worked as a respite care provider, running programs and providing one-on-one care for individuals with disabilities, throughout college. For many years, she also worked as a substitute teacher in special education classrooms, in addition to working with Service Dog teams. She has been lucky enough to combine her passions of working with the community and training Service Dogs, and has offered private service dog training, as well as boarding&training, full-time since 2017. In addition to working with owner-training Service Dog teams, Ashley is also a Hearing Dog trainer for the Hearing Dog Program based out of San Francisco.
